Welcome to Impact Hwb
Research, evaluation and advisory for local and national government, higher education and charities. We specialise in mixed-methods research, accessible evaluation and co-designed approaches that centre participants, particularly children and young people and disadvantaged or seldom-reached groups.
Services
We offer a flexible mix of research, evaluation and advisory support.
Research & insight
Design and delivery of mixed-methods research, from survey design and qualitative work to longitudinal and participatory studies.
Evaluation
Theory-driven evaluation, logic models and outcomes frameworks that help you understand what works, for whom, and in what contexts.
Advisory & support
Strategic advice, critical friend support and practical tools for teams in government, universities and the third sector.
Our approach
Our work is grounded in values of equality, social justice and meaningful participation.
- Participant-centred. We design research and evaluation that is accessible, inclusive and safe, particularly when working with children and young people.
- Co-production & co-design. Wherever possible we involve participants, practitioners and communities in shaping questions, methods and how findings are shared.
- Positive impact. We focus on generating insights that can genuinely improve policies, programmes and everyday practice, not just fill a report.
- Giving back. Each year we commit time to a number of pro bono projects with small local charities whose work aligns with our values.
Our credentials
ImpactHwb is led by a PhD qualified social scientist with more than 15 years’ experience across higher education, UK government and bodies, and charities.
We combine this with a wider network of consultants bringing expertise in:
- Environmental policy and practice
- Statistics and data analysis
- International development and social impact
We are certified to ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 27001 (information security), and we apply these standards to the way we design, deliver and govern our projects.
Case studies
Here are two examples of the kind of work we do.
Strengthening evaluation for a national education programme
We worked with partners to co-design a monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for a large-scale education initiative, involving thousands of young people and multiple delivery organisations. The work included a logic model, outcomes framework, accessible tools for practitioners and clear reporting to senior decision-makers.
Participant-centred insight for a local charity
A small youth charity asked us to help understand how their services were experienced by children and families. We developed inclusive, age-appropriate methods, supported staff to gather feedback confidently, and produced practical recommendations that fed directly into service design.
